Abstract

In the context of the rapid development of digital economy, its correlation with agricultural modernization and rural development has become increasingly prominent. This paper adopts a two-way fixed-effects model combined with a mediated-effects model to systematically examine the impact of digital economy on the process of agricultural and rural modernization and its transmission paths based on the panel data of 31 provincial-level administrative regions in China from 2011 to 2023. The empirical results show that the development of digital economy has a significant role in promoting the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and that the digital economy can indirectly promote the modernization of agriculture and rural areas through the drive of scientific and technological innovation and the optimization of human resources.
