New Trends and Countermeasures in the Global Supply Chain Evolution of Chinese High-Tech Enterprises in the U.S.-China Game and the Post-Epidemic Era

Abstract: In recent years, the economic dominance of the traditional powers centred on the United States has been shaken by the continuous development and rise of China, while the technological competition and economic games between the two countries have been increasing, leading to the United States launching a trade war against China. In addition to political and economic factors, there are also social factors that we cannot predict - the outbreak of epidemics, the global supply chain is forming a new pattern, while the risk of disruption of the global supply chain is also increasing. Against this background, this paper takes Huawei as a typical case, and based on the problems it faces, analyses the measures it has implemented such as "spare tire plan" and "inventory redundancy", provides a response path for China's high-tech enterprises to the new changes in the global supply chain, and finally concludes that it is useful for other high-tech enterprises in China. Finally, it concludes that there are lessons to be learned for other high-tech enterprises in China. Read More

Research Impact of Shorting Mechanism on Firms' Innovation Quality

Abstract: The application of a shorting mechanism can make investors pay more attention to the negative information of firms and thus have an impact on managers' innovation decisions. This paper uses the implementation of China's securities financing policy as a quasi-natural experiment to explore the impact of the policy on the quality of corporate innovation. According to the data of A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2022, a double-difference model is used to assess the impact of the implementation of the short-selling mechanism on the quality of corporate innovation. The study shows that the policy significantly promotes the improvement of corporate innovation quality. Meanwhile, the incentivizing effect of the shorting mechanism on enterprise innovation quality is more significant in non-state-owned companies. The findings of the study provide important policy insights for the implementation of the innovation-driven development station strategy in China. Read More

The Impact of FDI and R&D Input on China's Energy Intensity - Based on Empirical Study of Provinces Along the Belt and Road

Abstract: Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed and implemented in 2013, China's economic scale and growth rate rank among the top in the world, and foreign-invested enterprises have become an important engine to promote China's high-quality economic development. How to effectively utilize foreign investment to reduce China's energy intensity is crucial to sustainable and stable economic development. Based on the panel data of 17 provinces along the "Belt and Road" in China from 2011 to 2020, this paper established a fixed-effect model to investigate the influence of foreign investment utilization level on energy intensity. The results show that foreign direct investment, regional economic development level and research and development intensity have a significant effect on the decline of energy intensity. Factors such as industrial structure and energy structure will cause the increase of energy intensity. The results of subregional regression show that FDI inflow helps to reduce the energy intensity of the eastern and central regions, and the effect of the eastern region is better than that of the central region, but the energy intensity of the western region will increase. Based on the above, suggestions are put forward to rationally guide the inflow of foreign capital in different regions, increase the research and development of energy-saving technologies, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, and optimize the structure of energy consumption, in order to improve the utilization rate of energy in our country. Productivity Spillovers from Foreign Direct Investment in UAE's Industrial Sectors: A Time-Series Analysis

Abstract: This study examines the productivity spillover effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the industrial sectors of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using empirical data from time-series input-output tables. The analysis reveals that FDI significantly enhances productivity, particularly in high-tech and knowledge-intensive sectors, through technology transfer, knowledge spillovers, and resource integration. These sectors exhibit substantial productivity gains, while traditional, labor-intensive sectors benefit to a lesser extent. The findings underscore the importance of targeted FDI policies, investment in human capital, support for innovation and research and development (R&D), and balanced industrial development to maximize the benefits of FDI. Strengthening international cooperation with multinational enterprises is also crucial. The study validates existing theoretical frameworks on FDI's positive impact on productivity but acknowledges limitations related to data completeness and establishing causality. Future research should address these limitations by incorporating additional data sources, employing robust methodologies, and conducting more extensive longitudinal and sector-specific analyses. Overall, the study highlights the critical role of FDI in boosting the UAE's industrial productivity, providing valuable insights for policymakers to promote sustainable economic growth and development. Optimization of ETF Fund Selection Strategy Based on Machine Learning Scoring Model

Abstract: This study aims to optimize the ETF fund selection strategy. By combining the time-series momentum strategy and the machine learning scoring model, a systematic analysis and empirical research on the main stock ETFs and cross-border ETFs in the Chinese market are conducted. We constructed a combination strategy that combines momentum indicators and machine learning scoring, and conducted a backtest. The results show that the combination strategy is significantly better than the momentum strategy or machine learning model alone and the benchmark index in terms of annualized return, maximum drawdown and Sharpe ratio. By selecting momentum indicators (such as simple momentum, exponential moving average, relative strength index) and machine learning models (such as logistic regression, support vector machine, random forest), we verified the effectiveness of these methods in ETF fund selection. The backtest results show that combining different methods can effectively improve the performance of ETF fund selection strategies and achieve better investment results. This paper further analyzes the investment results of each strategy, and evaluates the stability and risk control ability of the strategy through cross-validation and backtesting methods. The results show that the combination strategy performs well in terms of return, risk control and risk-adjusted returns, providing investors with a scientific and effective investment tool. Marketing strategy practices were explored in terms of product, price, channel, and promotion; while customer relationship management was described in terms of customer value, customer satisfaction, and customer retention.
