Sustainable Food: Reasons for the Attitude Behavioral Intention Gap among Consumers in Sustainable Consumption

Abstract: Sustainable consumption is a popular trend today. The formal introduction of the term "sustainable consumption" began at the 1994 Oslo Symposium. Sustainable consumption basically refers to the use of natural, environmentally friendly, and recyclable green resources to serve society, protect the environment, improve quality of life, without affecting the lives and needs of future generations, while meeting the basic needs of humanity. The Chinese government is also actively promoting and deploying research and deployment on sustainable consumption. However, the research and practice process of sustainable consumption in China is not synchronized with developed countries. Compared to developed countries that started deploying and implementing the concept of sustainable consumption earlier, China's economic development stage is slightly behind developed countries, so the policy deployment and implementation of sustainable consumption in China was relatively late. The efforts towards sustainable development will benefit all of us. In the context of the development of sustainable consumption, the sustainability of food is a new industrial model of particular concern today. Sustainable food is cultivated and developed in ecological organic agriculture, and its continuous innovation and development help provide market opportunities for traditional agricultural farmers. The sustainability of food is committed to creating a resilient food system, achieving ecological species diversity and harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Read More

The Complex Mechanism of Social Networks' Influence on the Behavior of Institutional Investors

Abstract: It examines the mechanism of influence on institutional investors by social networks, specifically looking at the dual roles of information dissemination and social capital accumulation. This paper collects financial data, transaction records, and social network data concerning institutional investors. Descriptive statistical analysis and multivariate regression analysis were adopted to test the critical impact of social networks on investment decisions. The results show that information sources and social capital have a significant positive impact on investment amounts. Institutional investors who can obtain direct information sources have significantly increased their investment amounts, and the accumulation of social capital also has a significant promoting effect on investment amounts. Descriptive statistical analysis reveals the differences in the social capital and information sources of different investors on their investment behaviors. Regression analysis further quantifies these effects. It can be seen that information sources and social capital were 200000 and 10000 respectively, while the P value was far less than 0.01, highly significant in general. This paper not only verifies the key role of social network in institutional investors' behavior but provides a very important reference to sponsoring actual investment decisions. It shows how social networks have a significant role in information dispersion and accumulation of social capital on the behavior of guiding institutional investors. This promotes more extensive use of the scope of social network theory applications in the context of finance literature and provides newer perspectives and strategies for institutional investors. Accuracy of Green Bond Issuance Predictor

Abstract: Climate change is affecting the development of many industries in different aspects. These impacted enterprises transform into sustainable enterprises to avoid the risks, and by doing so they enter into the green bond market. The current literature provides effective reference indicators for participants in the green bond market. These indicators illustrate the funding size of the green bonds in different dimensions to the participants. As for the improvement of the policies about environmental protection there also emerge some new indicators such as ESG score. Besides, machine learning is an accurate and effective tool in many fields, and some researchers have established a model for predicting the issuance of green bonds but have not involved the new indicators in the past. In this paper, on the one hand, we discuss the new indicator, ESG scores, and how it affects the funding size of the green bonds, on the other hand, we add this new indicator and the old indicators into four machine learning models to compare the accuracy of predicting the issuance of green bonds of these four models. In these four models, the Random Forest Regressor and LGBM Regressor are the best models on average. The former has the best performance of accuracy but needs much more time than the latter. On the opposite, the latter is the most efficient model among all but is the second most accurate. Besides, other models have the best numerical measurements in different dimensions which means we could use different models depending on different situations. Choosing the proper model for the specific situation can optimize the benefit of the green bond market participant. Read More

The Empirical Examination of the Effect of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Performance on Enterprise Value: Focusing on Real Estate Agencies

Abstract: In the 21st century, modern production techniques and technological advancements have yielded remarkable development achievements, yet they are accompanied by challenges posed by energy and resource scarcity, ecological and environmental strain, and pressing social issues. Recently, the spotlight has shifted to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, as negative social events have heightened public awareness. The impact of corporate ESG performance on society is significant, and the public's perception can, in turn, affect corporate profitability and overall value. As such, investors are increasingly realizing the importance of considering ESG metrics in their decisions. While ESG investment is still in its nascent stage domestically, it has garnered widespread attention and is rapidly gaining momentum. Indices and related derivative products themed around ESG, such as the ESG Beauty 50 index, have been launched on domestic exchanges like the Shanghai Stock Exchange and China Securities Index. Taking the real estate industry as a case study, this paper aims to accomplish the following through a combination of literature research and empirical analysis: Firstly, to assess whether ESG performance varies across companies with diverse characteristics (such as state-ownership status, enterprise size, and so forth) and explore its differential impact on enterprise value. Secondly, to raise awareness among company managers regarding the critical role of ESG performance in shaping the future sustainability and long-term value of their organizations. Read More

A Prospective Study on the Economic Effects of China-GCC FTA - Simulation and Analyses Based on GTAP Model

Abstract: In the context of the "Belt and Road" initiative, this paper is based on the China-GCC FTA negotiations, and uses the Global Trade Analysis Model (GTAP) to construct six scenarios of tariff reduction in key sectors and reduction of technical barriers to trade (TBT) between China and the GCC countries, and to assess the impacts of the construction of the FTA on the economies of China and related countries. The paper shows that increased trade liberalization has a positive economic impact on the China-GCC FTA. At the same time, tariff changes in the manufacturing and oil and gas industries dominated the tariff reductions, but the reduction of technical barriers to trade (TBT) has a particularly significant impact compared to tariffs. Bilateral trade will contribute more remarkably to China's continued economic growth than in the GCC countries. Reductions in trade barriers will effectively boost production demand in Chinese and GCC countries, contributing imports, exports and output, which will benefit both economies, specially, China's trade surpluses increasing particularly in various sectors. Digital Technology Innovation and Enterprise Quality Development

Abstract: Under the background of the digital economy, digital technology innovation has become an important source for enterprises to cultivate new dynamic energy for development, but the relationship between digital technology innovation and high-quality development is still unclear. In this paper, based on the patents in the field of digital technology filed by Chinese listed companies in the manufacturing industry from 2011 to 2021, we use machine learning methods to measure the innovation index of digital technology patents, and then examine the economic impact of digital technology innovation from the perspective of the technological complexity of enterprises' export products. It was found that digital technology innovation can significantly promote the high-quality development of export enterprises, and this conclusion is still valid after the robust type test. In terms of the impact mechanism, digital technological innovation promotes the high-quality development of export enterprises mainly through reducing administrative costs and improving labor efficiency. Further analysis reveals that digital technology innovation has a greater role in fostering larger-scale, non-state-owned, high-tech enterprises. The findings of this paper provide micro-level empirical evidence that digital technology empowers the high-quality development of enterprises, which provides a reference for improving the digitalization of enterprise trade and further promoting the construction of the Digital Strong Trade Project. China is currently in the process of transitioning from regional unbalanced development to balanced development. Therefore, it is of theoretical and practical significance to sort out the theory of regional unbalanced development and China's practical experience. Representative regional historians and economists have explained the process of regional unbalanced development from the perspectives of historical reality and economic theory, and have developed relevant theories. Pero believed that the significant differences in the foundations of economic development among different regions led to the emergence of regional imbalances. Hirsch emphasized the necessity of imbalanced development in the early stages of economic development, while Myrdal further explained the reasons and mechanisms of uneven growth, as well as how it affects regional economic development. The main manifestations of unbalanced regional development in China currently include: uneven development in the four major regions, uneven development within regions, and uneven development between urban and rural areas. In response to the problem of unbalanced development in China, China has taken measures such as organizing and implementing the poverty alleviation campaign, deepening the implementation of regional coordinated development strategies, and promoting new urbanization centered on people to narrow the regional development gap. Research on Influencing Factors of China Real Estate Price Based on Multiple Linear Regression

Abstract: Employing the methodology of multiple linear regression, this study delves into the primary determinants influencing real estate valuations in China in a systematic manner. In the midst of China's swift economic expansion, the real estate sector has evolved into a pivotal component of the economy, with fluctuations in property prices exerting a substantial influence on the stability of the socio-economic landscape. This paper aims to reveal the deep-seated reasons of China real estate price fluctuation through comprehensive analysis of various potential factors, and provide scientific basis for policy makers. The study selected data from 2010 to 2020. The empirical analysis results show that there is a significant negative correlation between the completed residential area and the real estate price, that is, the increase of supply will lead to the price decline, which is in line with the expectation of supply and demand theory. Housing cost has a significant positive impact on real estate prices, indicating that rising costs are an important factor in pushing up housing prices. The cost of land acquisition also has a positive impact on housing prices. Although its significance is slightly marginal, it confirms the important role of land cost in the formation of housing prices. However, the impact of development investment on housing prices is not significant, which may be related to various factors such as investment efficiency and market reaction time. The goodness of fit and significance analysis of the model show that the model can well explain and predict the changes of real estate prices, and the R-squared value is 0.76, indicating that the independent variable can explain 76% of the real estate price variation. The F-statistical value and its corresponding P value indicate that the model is statistically significant. Based on the results of empirical analysis, this paper puts forward the following policy suggestions: the government should stabilize housing … Read More

Predicting Employees' Intention to stay in the Hotel Industry: A Cross-national Comparison between China and Malaysia

Abstract: This study investigates the factors influencing employees' intention to stay in the hotel industry through a cross-national comparison between China and Malaysia. By analyzing survey data from 190 employees in China and 181 in Malaysia, the research explores the effects of pay and compensation, career advancement, and performance appraisal on retention intentions and how these effects are moderated by nationality. The results indicate that all three factors significantly influence employees' intention to stay in both countries. However, the impact of pay and compensation, and performance appraisal is notably moderated by nationality, with significant variations observed between the two countries. Specifically, while pay and compensation and performance appraisal are crucial for retention in both China and Malaysia, career advancement opportunities are more critical for employees in Malaysia. These findings highlight the necessity for hotel management to tailor their human resource practices to fit the cultural and economic contexts of each country. In China, improving compensation and performance appraisal systems is essential for enhancing retention, whereas in Malaysia, offering robust career advancement opportunities is key. The study extends Herzberg’s two-factor theory by demonstrating how motivational and hygiene factors' significance varies with cultural and economic contexts, contributing valuable insights into how nationality influences employee retention strategies. Limitations of this research include its cross-sectional design and reliance on self-reported data. Future research should consider longitudinal studies and include a broader range of countries to validate and extend these findings. Exploring additional factors such as job satisfaction and work-life balance could further enrich understanding of employee retention dynamics in the hospitality industry. Read More

Analysis of the Brand Internationalization Status and Development Environment of Chinese Enterprises

Abstract: Driven by the wave of economic globalization in the 21st century, brand internationalization has become an important strategic choice for the enterprise and even the national level. With the internationalization of the market, the transnational of enterprises, the multinational capital and the intensification of competition, the brand has become a key indicator to measure the economic strength of a country or region. Although Chinese enterprises have cost and product advantages in the international market, their brand advantages are relatively weak, which leads to the limited image of Chinese products in overseas markets, and faces intellectual property challenges and dumping charges. To meet this challenge, the Chinese government has included independent innovation and brand building as the focus of the 11th Five-Year Plan since 2005, with the aim of enhancing international competitiveness. However, Chinese enterprises still face many problems in the process of brand internationalization, including the lack of brand strategy, the lack of understanding of the importance of brand internationalization, and the lack of grasp of development models and methods. At present, the theoretical research of brand internationalization has not yet formed a systematic framework, and there is a relative lack of systematic research on enterprise brand internationalization. Moreover, the practical history of Chinese enterprises in this field is relatively short, which provides a broad space for theoretical research and practical exploration. This paper aims to provide theoretical reference and strategic guidance for Chinese enterprises to enhance their brand competitiveness in the international market through in-depth study of the theory and practice of brand internationalization. Through the elaboration of the relevant theory of brand internationalization, the analysis of the development environment of Chinese brand internationalization, and the construction of the development … Read More

Air Quality Prediction and Warning Based on Machine Learning

Abstract: This article explores the factors related to changes in PM2.5 concentration from the perspective of machine learning, predicts daily air quality, and analyzes its warning level. Firstly, construct an indicator system with component factors and climate factors as independent variables, and PM2.5 concentration value as the dependent variable; Next, two machine learning algorithms, linear regression and decision tree regression, were used to construct models for regression prediction. The fitting curve between the predicted values and the true values was used to demonstrate the fitting effect, and it was found that decision tree regression had the best fitting. In two models, we trained predictions with step sizes of 3, 5, 7, and 12, respectively. We called the mean_squared_error standard library in Python to calculate the RMSE for each step, and weighted the RMSE for different step sizes of the two models to obtain the final RMSE. To more accurately predict the PM2.5 concentration value for the required date in the question, we extracted data from the time period of each year, calculated the average of each attribute as the test set, and imported it into the model. We then weighted and summed the predicted values of the two models to obtain the final PM2.5 prediction value. Finally, a visual analysis was conducted on the test set and its prediction results to more intuitively demonstrate the prediction performance. Read More
